Watch history being made on March 5, 2009

Starting at 9 am Pacific on 3/5/09, the California Channel will broadcast on most every cable system (just not mine, even though I'm in California!) the oral arguments to be made toward whether or not to overturn Proposition 8.  The arguments will be for/against finding this Proposition unconstitutional.

Click here to view this as a live webcast.

The night before, several candlelight vigils and other gatherings are planned in California's larger cities and some locations outside of California to help draw attention to what is happening the following morning.

I will, at least, be on-line Thursday morning to see/hear what happens.

Free advice from a job seeker - part 2

I received another suspicious e-mail earlier today.  Read about the "company" mentioned in the letter's salutation here.

Your best bet if you get an e-mail like this?  Delete it!!

Just for a laugh - make your choice

While there are plenty of serious things happening, I'm finding myself drawn to things that make me laugh.  Here are three things I heard today that made me laugh out loud.  Enjoy one, two or all three stories!

Chick's are becoming Dick's . . sporting goods.  The radio ad I heard on my way to the store had me giggling fits all the way there.

de facto:  Merriam-Webster defines the adjective form of this phrase as: being such in effect though not formally recognized.  The exchanges between a certain talk radio host and the head of a certain committee are just hilarious, especially when the committee head uses the phrase to refer to himself.  The meltdown continues.

Prop. 8 Legality To Be Argued Before California Supreme Court This Week

Join The Impact is asking supporters to wear white on Thursday 3/5/09. If you can make it to San Francisco that day to watch the court proceedings, so much the better. For more details, head here: http://jointheimpact.com/2009/02/march-5-wear-white/

Ouch!

Instead of my usual Saturday Night TV fare, I watched the second episode of "Important Things with Demetri Martin" on Comedy Central (Usually on Wednesdays 10:30 pm Eastern then repeated a whole heckuva lotta times through the week).

I kept giggling at the first episode about "Timing" (each episode focuses short skits, performances and -- litterally -- sketch comedy).  The clip below is from Episode 2 titled "Power".  Not quite as many giggles, but this 104 second faux-commercial "Creedocide" gasp, drop my jaw, cover my face then bust my gut laughing.

Blasphemous?  No doubt.  Funny Dark Comedy? Yep.  It's not easy to do, but here Demetri succeeds.  Now I really can't wait until the next episodes.
